NATIONAL MINIMUM WAGE
01 October 2009, 12:45 pmThe minimum wage is a legal right which covers almost all workers above compulsory school leaving age.
With effect from 1st October 2009, the rates will increase, so it is important to review your employees rates of pay to ensure that they are not being underpaid.
There are different minimum wage rates for different groups of workers as follows:
- The main rate for workers aged 22 and over increases from £5.73 per hour to £5.80 per hour.
- The development rate for 18-21 year olds increases from £4.77 per hour to £4.83 per hour.
- The development rate for 16-17 years olds increases from £3.53 per hour to £3.57 per hour.
